Did you know that Cranky needs your support in
order to continue to bring you great poetry, fiction, book reviews, and
art in 2007? Well, we do!
1. We've been good all year. We worked
hard to make Cranky 8 the best issue yet, and we hosted a debut
reading in January that packed the house and wowed all comers (except Christopher
Frizzelle, who was in a dim bar pretending to read Sartre).
2. There are starving artists right here in your
(virtual) backyard. Not going to eat your creamed corn? Well, we’re
not your mother, so that’s your business. But we do think that now’s
the time to let Cranky’s all-volunteer staff know we’re
not alone in our fight to bring brilliant writing and lit-tacular events
to you!
3. Great literature doesn’t grow on trees
(not even in Brooklyn). Cranky has a terrific 2007 planned,
including readings featuring writers Norman Lock, Sabrina Orah Mark, Christian
Hawkey and Michael Martone, as well as events like (pro)text,
our indie press fair, and a panel at the Seattle Poetry Festival which will
include poets Richard Kenney and G.C. Waldrep, among others.
