Cranky Literary Journal is happy to announce (pro)text: An Independent Press Fair. The date for the fair is Saturday, February 17, 2007, from noon until 5 p.m. at the Richard Hugo House in Seattle, and we invite all independent publishers to join us, (pro)text: It’s a sit-in. A stand-up
and shout. A chance to yell, “Look at me, dammit!”
Meaning, we want you there to represent the counter-world
(counter anything as long as it’s not counter-intelligence—the
Bush Administration has that covered). This ain’t Book Fest
or Bumbershoot. It’s a free-for-all (well, $10). It’s
a chance for small publishers to show off the work they're doing
and to get their texts (journals, magazines, books, zines) in
the public eye. We also invite publishers to submit proposals
for interesting performances on the cabaret stage and beyond.
By interesting, we don’t mean you have to juggle, but staid
readings of the been there, done that variety just aren’t
what this thing is about. So we need you at your creative best
to make this thing a rousing success.
